May 17 on the road (all most)
I’m at my cabin in Whitefish. They have these thin, paper-like things hanging from the branches of trees here in Montana. They’re green and they smell weird. They call them “leaves”.
I just finished with my interview with Rolling Stone. (Locally known as the Kalispell Daily Interlake Newspaper). A great guy – David Reese. When he looked at my route he said “No Way! Highway 93 is known as the most dangerous highway in America!”. So, I’m thinking of changing my route to the interstate (I 15) which is cycling legal here in Montana and Idaho. And it has a big shoulder. To cry on.
I leave first thing tomorrow morning with an exhilarating ride down Big Mountain.
And yes, it’s at this point that I am asking myself “What the %$#&@! * did * I get myself into?”
