The unlucky streak ended right after the garbage truck driver backed into WiTHiN and smashed up the bow and bent the trailer struts. Ken was able to fix it (as we knew he would) on Thursday as Jordan assembled our lines (sea anchor, anchor, drogue, bumpers, dock lines, etc). All other remaining work went smoothly, and we got our personal stuff packed up, in the car and got ourselves to bed early.
We were on the road by 6:30 am this morning and actually made the 5:45 pm ferry to Nanaimo. We met Rachel from West Marine store in Nanaimo and picked up our order of flares, some new shackles that Jordan thought necessary for our sea anchor lines, the digital charts for our Raymarine GPS, and some chain for an emergency anchor.
The plan is to head to the dock tomorrow, launch WiTHiN, spend a while packing her up in a way that makes some sense – that’s important because there are two of us crammed up in there, and set our sites on Nanaimo – about 130 km to the south. I’m thinking sort of 24 to 30 hour range.
