May 1, 2002 (pre trip)
Took the run-trike out for a good test today. A 60 minute run to test the new fangled steering thing-a-ma-jig. It works really slick if I do say so myself. I give the trike a shove with my left hand and I can run normally while holding the break-lever in my right hand. If I need to adjust the track of the trike (I call ‘trike track’, but that’s getting pretty technical) to the right I release the lever a bit and squeeze to turn left. Since I’ll be running on the right hand side of the highway, if I drop the lever the trike will vere right off the side of the road rather than left into traffic which would be LESS prefferable.
I found that on flat ground I could take about 5 run steps before having to shove the trike again. After a few minutes this got a bit annoying so I’m working on a way I can push the trike with my torso or chest without having to do anything with my arms but swing them in a normal running style.
